Launchpad 2026: Live Reading Session Livestream
This event is happening soon.
Join the livestream below; the recording will appear on this page within 48 hours of the event.
ISJAC’s Launchpad program gives emerging jazz composers a chance to hear their new work performed by a professional ensemble — and you’re invited to watch the 2026 reading session livestream for free, no membership required.
The Twin Cities Jazz Composers Workshop Orchestra (TCJCW), directed by JC Sanford, will read up to six brand-new pieces selected by a panel of composers and arrangers. At least one selection is a student work; at least one is by a Minnesota-based artist. The reading is followed by feedback and conversation.
When
Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 3:30pm to 6:30pm Eastern Time. Drop in for as much or as little as you can; the livestream runs the full three hours.
What you’ll hear
Each selected piece is scored for the standard Launchpad instrumentation — five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, guitar, piano, bass, drums — and runs no longer than eight minutes. You’ll hear the first professional reading of each work, watch the composer interact with the band, and listen to feedback from the panel.
Who’s behind it
Launchpad is a partnership between the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers (ISJAC), the Twin Cities Jazz Composers Workshop Orchestra, and 480 Arts. The free livestream is provided courtesy of 480 Arts. The 2026 cycle is supported by a grant from the ASCAP Foundation.
Who it’s for
Anyone curious about how new jazz writing comes to life — composers, arrangers, students, educators, and listeners. There’s no cost and no login. Just open the livestream and tune in.
How to watch
Visit the Launchpad page on the day of the event for the livestream link. The composer-submission window for this cycle has already closed (April 16 was the deadline), but the reading itself is open to all viewers.
